Protect Your Investment By Winterizing At Vans

Pulling your boat out of the water and winterizing it for the winter months is a must do on any boaters fall check list. Pulling your boat out of the water and winterizing it for the winter months is a must do on any boaters fall check list.

The summer sun has finally set and its time to start the annual fall chores of pulling the boat out and beaching the dock. Usually this task is an all day event, or in some cases if you have multiple boats and a longer dock, it can be all weekend. But the work doesn't stop there. Once you have all of that finished, don't just rush your boat straight over to the storage site. Get it winterized and prepped for the brutal Michigan winter months ahead. I know it's a pain in the neck to have to deal with after you just did all of that work, but it could save your boating season next year. Or at least the start of it. A boat is an investment and you should protect it, especially with something as easy as getting it winterized.

I see winterizing your boat as a must with our harsh winters. You spent thousands of dollars on your rig, why not protect that investment the best you can. And when that nice weather shows up in spring, you are going to want to be able to get it back out on the water with no issues. The issues can range anything from a busted lower unit, gummed up fuel system, or even a cracked block. Which can be a very costly repair that I am sure you don't want to throw money at. Thats where Vans Sport Center comes in. We winterize a ton of boats throughout the fall whether they have an outboard or an inboard motor. We do everything from changing the oil and gear lube to fogging and greasing. We cover everything that needs to be done so that you can put it away for the winter with no worries.

We also offer shrink wrapping as a service here at Vans. If you store your boat outside over the winter, you may want to look into wrapping your boat. Shrink wrapping protects against weather damage, harmful UV rays, added water from getting in, and unwanted visitors like rodents and other animals. The wrap we use is a thicker, stronger material that can hold up to the beatings of our unpredictable weather as well as heavy amounts of snow and ice. We can install weather tight vents for air flow as well.

If your in the Grand Rapids area, stop into Vans Sport Center and have us winterize your boat. Our friendly and professional staff will take care of your boat and have it ready for storage before the cold and snow hits.
