Van's Sport Center has access to more than 500,000 parts and accessories for everything from a vintage Evinrude to the newest model Mercury outboard or sterndrive. With a few simple steps, you can conduct your own search to find the right new or used part and conveniently place your order online, via email or over the telephone.

Before you search:
Examine your engine and write down the manufacturer, model number and serial number. It's often not enough information to only have make and model -- the serial number is necessary or you may buy the wrong part. As this example shows, you need to know the serial number for a Mercury 115 EFI 4-stroke when you are buying an oil filter because the same model requires different oil filters depending on the engine's serial number.

During the search:
Van's Sport Center has two main categories at the top of its home page to determine whether the part you are looking for is new part (Outboard Marine Parts) or a used part (Used Parts). When you click on the tab you want, you will see the manufacturer names on the left hand side. Select the make of your motor, and you will see what items are offered.

It may be necessary to drill down further to determine the part number by examining an exploded view or part breakdown of engine's subassembly. We have thousands of pages of exploded diagrams provided by the manufacturers on our website, many conveniently indexed by make, model, horsepower, and serial number. Just like buying a part for a car, you first have to have a general idea where the part is situated on the motor (lower drive unit, cylinder head, etc.) There isn't any substitute for taking your time to go through the diagrams carefully, and compare the diagram with the part from your motor if you have it.

After the search:
The part breakdowns provided are almost direct blueprints of a motor, a great source to depend on for comparisons. If something looks different, or a pertaining part has modifications that don't seem to match, make sure that's purposeful. Not all outboard parts are returnable, so it's best to avoid taking lucky guesses when possible.

Every used part that makes their way into our inventory has been checked and determined to be in good working condition by our mechanics here at the shop. We guarantee that our used parts work, and if they don't, we will replace it with another one for you free of charge.
